About the therapist

Sandra comes from Colombia. In her culture touch is highly important both as a way of communication and as a way of healing. Early on in her life, Sandra was introduced by her grandmother to the benefits of massage and the wisdom of herbal remedies.

Sandra trained as a classical harpist both in Colombia and England and was involved with music for over 15 years until 1998, when she started to explore touch and other healing techniques to overcome illness.

Sandra is a qualified Massage Therapist, Reiki Practitioner, Acupuncturist and Herbalist. She has also trained in Ear Acupuncture which is a more specialised type of acupuncture widely used for addiction recovery (including nicotine and alcohol). She has completed a Certificate course in working with people with Cancer at the Bristol Cancer Help Centre and has completed a PGD in Chinese Herbal Medicine. She is a member of the Complementary Therapists Association and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Sandra's experience as a therapist is very varied. She has worked in the community with victims of Domestic Violence, terminally ill people, elderly people and people trying to overcome addictions; and she has also run private practices both in London and Bristol.

In Bristol, Sandra has worked as therapist at the St Peter’s Hospice (4 years), at the CAAAD project for alcohol and drug recovery (5 years) and in private practices (since 2001). Currently, Sandra is starting an exciting new clinic in collaboration with Bristol's KEBELE Project. The new Bristol Community Acupuncture clinic has the aim of making Acupuncture accessible to those who cannot afford treatment under normal circumstances. Only those on benefits or on low-income can qualify for treatment at this clinic.
